US rig count plummets while Canada’s rises

Baker Hughes reported Friday that for the week ending September 7, the US rig count fell by 30 to 1,864, reflecting a 94-rig decline year-on-year. Rigs drilling for gas fell to 452 from 473 a week ago while oil-directed rigs fell by nine to 1,409.

On the other hand, Canada's rig count increased by 29 over the past week to 345 and is down 170 from the same week a year ago.
