US rebar exports drop 30 percent in April

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of rebar totaled 26,410 mt in April 2018, down 30.0 percent from March but up 16.5 percent from April 2017 levels. By value, rebar exports totaled $18.1 million in April, compared to $25.5 million in the previous month and $13.5 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most rebar to Canada in April with 22,850 mt, compared to 34,015 mt in March and 19,882 mt in April 2017. Other top destinations included Dominican Republic, with 1,663 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US rebar exports in April.
