US plates in coil exports down 35.3 percent in April

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of plates in coil totaled 24,517 mt in April 2020, down 35.3 percent from March and down 2.5 percent from April 2019 levels. By value, plates in coil exports totaled $19.3 million in April, compared to $31.3 million in the previous month and $23.7 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most plates in coil to Mexico in April with 16,753 mt, compared to 28,419 mt in March and 20,110 mt in April 2019. Other top destinations included Canada, with 5,905 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US plates in coil exports in April.
