US HDG imports down 17.4 percent in February

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of hot dipped galvanized sheet and strip totaled 133,177 mt in February 2023, down 17.4 percent from January and down 26.9 percent from February 2022 levels. By value, HDG imports totaled $192.1 million in February 2023, compared to $233.4 million in January and $314.5 million in February 2022.

The US imported the most HDG from Canada in February, with 71,936 mt, compared to 84,246 mt in January and 65,829 mt in February 2022. Other top sources of imported HDG in February include Brazil, with 18,819 mt; Mexico, with 18,411 mt; South Korea, with 10,874 mt; and Vietnam, with 10,126 mt.
