US HDG exports rise 30 percent in January

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip totaled 105,827 mt in January 2018, up 30.0 percent from December and up 3.3 percent from January 2017 levels. By value, HDG exports totaled $110.0 million in January, compared to $83.4 million in the previous month and $104.1 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most HDG to Canada in January with 65,066 mt, compared to 45,557 mt in December and 62,160 mt in January 2017. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 39,728 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US HDG exports in January.
