The US Department of Commerce (US DOC) has announced that it has postponed the preliminary determination in its countervailing duty (CVD) investigation of imports of carbon and certain alloy steel wire rod from China.

On March 31, the petitioner Nucor Corporation requested the postponement of the preliminary CVD determination to 130 days from the initiation date. The new date for the DOC to announce the preliminary decision in the CVD case is June 30, 2014.

As SteelOrbis previously reported, in February this year the US initiated a countervailing duty investigation against the abovementioned imports from China upon the application by US-based steel producers ArcelorMittal USA LLC, Charter Steel, Evraz Pueblo (formerly Evraz Rocky Mountain Steel), Gerdau Ameristeel US Inc., Keystone Consolidated Industries, Inc., and Nucor Corporation.
