US and Canadian rig counts tick down week-on-week

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending September 16, the US rotary rig count decreased by two to 506 following an 11-rig decrease the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by three to 89, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by two to 416. The overall rig count is still down by 336 rigs, year-on-year.
 
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by two in the week ending September 16 to 132 following a three-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is still down by 50 from the same week a year ago.
