According to Friday's report from Baker Hughes, for the week ending July 6, the US rig count increased by six to 1,965, following a seven-rig drop a week ago and a five-rig drop the week prior. The US rig count was up 78 year-on-year. The gas rig count increased by eight to 542 after multi-week declines, while the oil rig count fell by two this week to 1,419 but was still up 412 versus the same week a year ago.
The Canadian rig count increased by three last week to 264, reflecting a year-on-year decrease of 67 rigs.
