US and Canadian rig counts register increase

According to the most recent report by Baker Hughes, for the week ending September 23, the US rotary rig count rose by six from the previous week to 1,991. This reflects a year-on-year increase of 341 rigs.

Oil rigs led the increase in total US rig counts, rising by nine from last week (up 398 year-on-year), while gas rigs remained unchanged in the last week and were down 55 year-over-year.

The Canadian rig count rose as well, and is up three from last week to 505, representing an increase of 223 rigs year-on-year.
