The Russian iron ore and steel producer, Metalloinvest Holding (Metalloinvest), has announced that its affiliate Ural Steel has began to supply ferroalloys from China, due to their price advantage. A test consignment to the amount of 1,000 metric tons was supplied to the Ural Steel plant in December. Metalloinvest also said that if the quality of the Chinese ferroalloys complies with the needs of Ural Steel, then the company will move to conclude a long-term supply agreement. The final decision on the matter is expected to be taken at the end of January 2007.
