Accordingly, Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol (Ilyich) increased its finished steel products output by 2.4 percent, pig iron production by one percent, pipe production by 10.9 percent and agglomerate production by 7.1 percent year on year in the first six months of 2007. The respective figures in metric tons were 2.74 million, 2.7 million, 58,200 and 6.04 million. However, Ilyich registered a 0.4 percent decrease in its crude steel production to 3.45 million.
During the period in question, Azovstal registered a 12.2 percent increase in its finished steel products output, a 13.2 percent rise in crude steel production, an 18.9 percent increase in pig iron production, but a two percent drop in its agglomerate production year on year. The respective figures in metric tons stood at 2.72 million, 3.09 million, 2.68 million and 954,000.
In the first six months of 2007, Istil produced 471,000 metric tons of finished steel products - up 31.9 percent, and 501,000 metric tons of crude steel - up 28.8 percent, compared to the corresponding period of 2006.
In January-June 2007, Makeevsk Metallurgical Plant (Makeevsk) increased its finished steel production by 24.3 percent to 515,800 metric tons, its crude steel production by 17.1 percent to 892,600 metric tons, and its pig iron production by 43.5 percent to 963,100 metric tons, all compared to the corresponding period of 2006.
