Ukraine's crude steel output to decline in Feb from Jan level

In February this year, Ukraine's crude steel production is expected to decrease by 7.8 percent compared to the expected output in January to 2.49 million mt, according to the Ukrainian association of metal producers Metallurgprom.

According to Metallurgprom's forecast, in February pig iron output in Ukraine will total 2.33 million mt, down 6.8 percent compared to the expected January result, while Ukrainian production of rolled steel is expected to total 2.23 million mt, down 3.8 percent month on month.

In February this year, domestic steelmakers will need 590,000 mt of sintering ore, 1.6 million mt of concentrate, 450,000 mt of agglomerate, 630,000 mt of pellets, 820,000 mt of limestone, 1.11 million mt of metallurgical coke and 360,000 mt of steel scrap in order to ensure the planned volumes of production in the given month.

In January, Ukrainian companies plan to produce 2.7 million mt of crude steel, 2.5 million mt of pig iron and 2.32 million mt of rolled steel.
