Ukraine ups steel consumption in H1 2008

According to preliminary information issued by the Ukrainian government, in the first six months of 2008 the country increased its steel consumption by only 0.3 percent year on year to 5.93 million metric tons. Meanwhile, during the period in question, imports of steel products to Ukraine increased dramatically - i.e. by 42.4 percent year on year to 1.28 million metric tons.
