Ukraine’s steel consumption declines by 40 percent in H1

The Ukrainian association of metal producers Metallurgprom has announced that Ukraine's domestic steel consumption totaled 2.6 million mt in the first half of this year, falling by 40 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

In the given period, the country's steel imports totaled 530,000 mt, slumping by 65 percent year on year. Meanwhile, Ukraine's steel exports amounted to 11.6 million mt in the first half this year, down two percent year on year.

Ukraine's exports of semi-finished steel and flat steel products totaled 5.5 million mt and 3.5 million mt in the first half of this year, up by one and four percent year on year, respectively.
