The World Trade Organization (WTO) has announced that following Japan, Taiwan and Russia, Ukraine has notified the WTO’s dispute settlement body that it also requests to join the dispute consultations with the Indian government regarding the application of safeguard measures on imports of hot rolled flat products of non-alloy and other alloy steel in coils of a width of 600 mm or more and the minimum import price system on certain iron and steel products.

Ukraine stated that it has been historically a reliable and regular supplier of the products at issue to Indian consumers and it is highly interested in supplying the products concerned to India. Accordingly, Ukraine has substantial interest in consultations on the safeguard measures applied by India on imports of certain steel products and in the investigation that led to the imposition of those measures.
