Ukraine reports 5.9 percent increase in pig iron output for Jan-Mar 2026

In March this year, Ukraine’s pig iron output amounted to 690,200 mt, up by 22.8 percent month on month and by 22.5 percent year on year, according to the data released by the Ukrainian Steel Association Ukrmetallurgprom.

In the given month, the country’s crude steel production grew by 36.4 percent compared to the previous month and by 27.6 percent year on year to 702,300 mt, while its rolled steel production came to 544,500 mt, moving up by 39.5 percent month on month and by 13.8 percent from the same month last year.

Meanwhile, in the first three months of 2026, Ukraine produced 1.80 million mt of pig iron, rising by 5.9 percent year on year, while its crude steel production in the given period totaled 1.73 million, down by 0.3 percent, and rolled steel production was 1.34 million mt, decreasing by 6.6 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
