Ukraine reports 0.3 percent decrease in pig iron output for Jan-Apr 2026

In April this year, Ukraine’s pig iron output amounted to 554,000 mt, down by 19.7 percent month on month and by 16.1 percent year on year, according to the data released by the Ukrainian Steel Association Ukrmetallurgprom.

In the given month, the country’s crude steel production fell by 26.3 percent compared to the previous month and by 25.3 percent year on year to 517,300 mt, while its rolled steel production came to 460,800 mt, moving down by 15.4 percent month on month and by 15.8 percent from the same month last year.

Meanwhile, in the first four months of 2026, Ukraine produced 2.36 million mt of pig iron, down by 0.3 percent year on year, while its crude steel production in the given period totaled 2.25 million, dropping by 7.4 percent, and rolled steel production was 1.80 million mt, decreasing by 9.1 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
