The Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers has introduced price registration for mining, coal and steel products which are sold by Ukrainian companies and which are purchased by state companies or by companies using state funds.

The decision was taken in order to monitor the situation in the local mining and metallurgical markets. The price registration will be implemented by the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, which is to place the price lists on its official web site.

In November 2008, the Ukrainian cabinet introduced the declaration of wholesale price changes for mining, coal and steel products in the local market. Some of the Ukrainian mining and metallurgical companies like Metinvest, Smart Group and Ukrtrubprom have opposed this price declaration, while Industrial Union of Donbass (ISD) and Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol (Ilyich) have supported it.
