According to a report released by the UK's Office for National Statistics (ONS), in December last year the UK's seasonally adjusted production index of manufacturing increased by 2.1 percent compared to November and was up by four percent year on year. According to the ONS, in the October-December period of last year, the country’s seasonally adjusted production index of manufacturing rose by 1.2 percent quarter on quarter and increased by 1.9 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous year.
Meanwhile, in December the production index for basic metals and metal products increased by 6.3 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and was up 4.5 percent compared to November. In the October-December period last year, the production index for basic metals and metal products grew by 1.1 percent compared to the previous quarter and increased by 2.1 percent compared to the same quarter of 2015.
