According to a report released by the UK's Office for National Statistics (ONS), in January this year the UK's seasonally adjusted production index of manufacturing decreased by 0.9 percent compared to December and was up by 2.7 percent year on year. According to the ONS, in the November-January period, the country’s seasonally adjusted production index of manufacturing rose by 2.1 percent quarter on quarter and increased by 2.9 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in January the production index for basic metals and metal products decreased by 0.8 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and was down 3.4 percent compared to December. In the November-January period last year, the production index for basic metals and metal products grew by 2.3 percent compared to the previous quarter and increased by 2.1 percent year on year.
