Market players have shared their opinions on the global markets at the SteelOrbis & IREPAS Conference held in St. Petersburg on September 25-26 with a participant list of 253 steel sector executives covering 89 manufacturers from 30 different countries. Committee meetings were held for raw materials, manufacturers and traders, while two separate rebar & wire rod and billet committees were held within the scope of the manufacturers' committees.

IREPAS chairman and CEO of Çolakoğlu Metalurji AŞ Uğur Dalbeler made the opening speech after the completion of the committee meetings in question.

Mr. Dalbeler stated, "As manufacturers, they are still full of hope for the steel sector," adding that exchange rates are a totally different story due to the uncertainty surrounding the future. In addition, Mr. Dalbeler stated that he himself is focused on developing the market itself, instead of focusing on exchange rates. The steel industry will be a strong instrument for the global market in the future as well, since there is no alternative production to take its place, he said. Dalbeler concluded his speech saying that there are ongoing opportunities for the sector in the North African and Southern America markets
