Turkish motor vehicle output sees increase in January-August

According to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD), in August this year Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 45,608 units, increasing 23.9 percent year on year.

In August of the current year, Turkey's passenger car output totaled 28,457 units, up 34.5 percent year on year. In August, small truck production amounted to 13,026 units, up eight percent compared to August 2012.

Meanwhile, in the first eight months of this year, the country's total motor vehicle output amounted to 726,947 units, increasing by 4.7 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. Passenger car output in the first eight months of this year totaled 397,651 units, up 6.4 percent year on year, while commercial vehicle production stood at 329,296 units, up three percent compared to the corresponding period of 2012.

The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry in August this year was 36 percent. In the first eight months of the year, the production capacity utilization rate was 72 percent.
