Turkish motor vehicle market grows by 80 percent in Q1

In the first quarter of the current year, the Turkish motor vehicle market grew by 80 percent year on year, reaching 192,488 units, according to the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD). In the given period, Turkey's motor vehicle exports totaled 213,503 units, up five percent, while its total motor vehicle production amounted to 304,414 units, rising by 18 percent, mainly due to improvements in Turkey's domestic market, both compared to the corresponding period of 2010.
 
In March this year, motor vehicle sales in Turkey reached their highest level with 82,973 units, which is 54 percent higher as compared to March 2010, while Turkey's motor vehicle exports rose one percent year on year to 78,206 units, with Turkish motor vehicle production amounting to 113,375 units, up by 15 percent year on year.
