Turkish metal manufacturers’ capacity utilization hits five-month high

According to the provisional data released by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, in December this year the capacity utilization rate in the Turkish basic metal manufacturing industry came to 78.5 percent, compared to 73 percent in December 2009, reaching the highest level in the last five months. The utilization rate in question was recorded as 77.2 percent, 74.8 percent and 78.4 percent in September, October and November of 2010, respectively.

Meanwhile, the December capacity utilization rate in the manufacture of metal products, except machinery and equipment, was 68.6 percent, increasing by seven percentage points year on year. The capacity utilization rate in question was recorded as 68.7 percent, 69.8 percent and 67.9 percent in September, October and November of 2010 in that order.
 
The capacity utilization rate in Turkey's general manufacturing industry in December this year, on the other hand, came to 75.6 percent, compared to 75.9 percent in November and 67.7 percent in December 2009.
