According to a statement released by the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (DCUD), in the January-October period of this year Turkey's finished steel production reached 28.3 million mt, up by 7.1 percent year on year.
20.9 milllion mt of the total finished steel production in the first 10 months consisted of long steel products, while 7.4 million mt was accounted for by flat steel products. Turkey's flat steel production decreased 3.8 percent, while domestic production of long steel products rose by 11.6 percent, both compared to January-October 2011.
Meanwhile, Turkey's long steel product consumption in the first 10 months of the year exceeded 23.5 million mt, rising 4.9 percent compared to the same period last year, while the country's flat steel consumption was 11.4 million mt, increasing 2.4 percent, and its long steel consumption reached 12.2 million mt, up 7.3 percent, both compared to January-October 2011.
