In January of the current year, Turkey's stainless flat steel imports rose by 39.63 percent year on year and decreased by 8.14 percent compared to the previous month to 40,812 metric tons, following the 12.63 percent month-on-month increase recorded in December, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports was $86.91 million, increasing by 18.61 percent year on year and down 8.83 percent month on month.
In January this year, Turkey's stainless flat steel imports from South Korea increased by 585.48 percent year on year to 11,187 mt, with the country ranking as Turkey's top source for stainless flat steel imports. Italy ranked second with its stainless flat steel exports to Turkey rising by 369.11 percent year on year to 8,139 mt in the given month. Meanwhile, in January this year Turkey's stainless flat steel imports from Taiwan decreased by 21.24 percent, with imports from China increasing by 55.67 percent, both year on year.
