According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in February this year Turkey's rebar (including round bar) exports amounted to 815,633 metric tons, increasing by 48.4 percent year on year and up 30.4 percent from the previous month. Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $521.25 million, rising by 57.2 percent compared to February 2011 and up 30.6 percent from the previous month.
On the other hand, in the first two months of the current year Turkey's rebar exports stood at 1.44 million metric tons, up 22.9 percent year on year, while the total revenue of these exports amounted to $920 million, increasing by 25.2 percent as compared to January-February 2011.
In the January-February period this year, Turkey's rebar exports to the US, the largest rebar export destination of Turkey, more than doubled, while rebar exports to the UAE decreased by 56.4 percent, both compared to the same period last year.
