Turkey's steel import value up 11.6 percent in January-February

According to the provisional foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) and the Turkish Undersecretariat of Customs, in February this year the value of Turkey's iron and steel imports decreased by 4.1 percent year on year, totaling $982.04 million. In the given month, iron and steel ranked in fifth place among the most imported products of the country in terms of value. In the January-February period of this year, the value of Turkey's iron and steel imports totaled $2.12 billion, increasing by 11.6 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
 
In February, the country's imports of articles of iron or steel, which ranked 15th among the products with the highest import value, amounted to $204.73 million in value, decreasing by 18.8 percent year on year. In the first two months of this year, the value of Turkey's imports of articles of iron or steel was down 30 percent to $419.62 million compared to the same period of 2016.
