In March this year, Turkey's total steel product exports amounted to 1.64 million metric tons, decreasing by three percent compared to the previous month and up 0.4 percent year on year, according to the Turkey's Steel Exporters' Association (CIB). The revenue generated by the countrys iron and steel product exports in March totaled $1.34 billion, decreasing by three percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in the first three months of the current year Turkey's total steel product exports amounted to 4.93 million metric tons, up 9.8 percent compared to the same period last year. The revenue generated by these exports in January-March this year totaled $3.9 billion, increasing by 8.9 percent year on year.
In the first quarter of the current year, the Middle East was Turkey's largest destination for steel exports, receiving 1.85 million metric tons. In the given period, Turkey's steel product exports to North Africa amounted to 556,000 mt, while North America imported 543,000 mt of steel products from Turkey. In the first quarter, exports of rebar, which ranks first among the country's exported steel products in terms of volume, amounted to 2.44 million mt, while Turkey exported 497,000 mt of steel billet, 461,000 mt of steel pipe and 293,000 mt of wire rod in the period in question.
