Turkey's steel billet imports up 28.96 percent in Jan

In January this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 28.96 percent year on year to 266,816 metric tons, down 31.43 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $145.38 million, up 24.13 percent year on year and decreasing by 30.61 percent compared to the previous month.

In January of the current year, Turkey imported 182,613 mt of billet and bloom from Ukraine, 140.40 percent higher than in January 2013, occupying first place among Turkey's major billet and bloom import sources, ahead of Russia. In the given month, Turkey imported 74,257 mt of billet and bloom from Russia, up 1.53 percent year on year.
