Turkey's steel billet imports down 53.42 percent in Oct from Sept

In October this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume decreased by 31.82 percent year on year to 140,323 metric tons, down 53.42 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $78.39 million, down 36.22 percent year on year and decreasing by 52.67 percent compared to the previous month.

 

Meanwhile, in the January-October period of this year, Turkey imported 2,420,080 mt of billet and bloom, up 23.06 percent, with a value of $1.35 billion, increasing by 10.13 percent, both year on year.

In October this year, Turkey imported 70,586 mt of billet and bloom from Russia, 50 percent lower month on month and 69.08 percent higher compared to October 2012, occupying first place among Turkey's major billet and bloom import sources in the given month, ahead of Ukraine. Nevertheless, in the first 10 months of the year Ukraine's billet and bloom exports to Turkey increased by 27.21 percent year on year to 1.25 million mt, with Ukraine being the top supplier of billet and bloom to Turkey in this period.
