According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in July this year Turkey's stainless flat steel imports rose 7.9 percent compared to the previous month, increasing to 25,478 metric tons. The value of these imports amounted to $78.2 million, increasing by 13.3 percent as compared to June this year.
In July, Turkey's stainless flat steel imports from Taiwan amounted to 5,774 metric tons, increasing by 28.5 percent month on month and accounting for approximately 22.7 percent of Turkey's total stainless flat steel imports. Turkey's second biggest source of stainless flat steel imports in July was Germany with 3,705 metric tons, increasing by 53.4 percent compared to June this year.
In the first seven months of this year, Turkey's stainless flat steel imports amounted to 199,091 metric tons, increasing by 6.1 percent compared to the same period last year. Imports from Taiwan in January-July this year amounted to 46,648 metric tons, decreasing by 4.7 percent compared to the same period last year. Imports from South Korea in the first seven months of the year amounted to 33,071 mt, increasing by 58.6 compared to the same period last year.
