In November last year, Turkey's slab imports amounted to 94,766 mt, falling by 46.5 percent year on year and up 88.3 percent compared to October, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The total value of Turkey's slab imports in the given month was $33.8 million, down 34.9 percent compared to November 2015 and rising by 98 percent month on month.
During the first 11 months of the past year, Turkey's slab imports decreased by 47.7 percent to 1.47 million mt, while the value of these imports declined by 53.3 percent to $458 million, both year on year.
In the given period, Turkey imported 601,190 metric tons of slab from Brazil. Brazil was Turkey's largest slab import source in the period in question, followed by Ukraine, which supplied 292,103 mt in the given period.
