According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in the first seven months of this year Turkey's steel scrap imports rose 18.28 percent year on year, reaching 10.04 million metric tons. The value of these imports amounted to $3.7 billion, increasing by 73.06 percent, as compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
The data show that, in the given period, the average import price of Turkey's steel scrap stood at $368/mt, rising by 46.32 percent or $117/mt as compared to January-July 2009.
