Georgia’s scrap exports to Turkey surge 11 percent in January-August

According to the data provided by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat), in the January-August period of this year Georgia's ferrous scrap exports to Turkey, the country's main trading partner, amounted to 214,442 metric tons, increasing by 10.98 percent year on year. The revenue generated by these exports came to $58.55 million, up 49.12 percent year on year, indicating that the country's average export price for ferrous scrap to Turkey in the period in question was $276/mt, up from $203/mt in the corresponding period of 2009.
 
Meanwhile, in the given period Georgia's ferroalloy exports to Turkey regressed by 77.42 percent as compared to the January-August period of 2009, reaching 16,053 metric tons.
