Turkey’s rebar exports down 14.5 percent in January-May

In May this year, Turkey's rebar exports amounted to 348,270 metric tons, down 18.9 percent compared to April and decreasing by 21.1 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $196.9 million, increasing by three percent compared to May 2017 and down 19.8 percent month on month.

In the first five months of the current year, Turkey's rebar exports amounted to 2.31 million mt, down 14.5 percent, while the value of these exports increased by 11.8 percent to $1.28 billion, both year on year.

In the given period, Turkey's largest rebar export destination was Yemen which received 345,398 metric tons, up 15.04 percent year on year. Yemen was followed by Israel with 284,257 metric tons and the US with 206,837 metric tons.
