In August this year, Turkey's pig iron imports amounted to 60,984 mt, down 34.1 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The total value of Turkey's pig iron imports in the given month decreased by 26.4 percent year on year to $24.8 million.
In the first eight months of the current year, Turkey's pig iron imports increased by 52 percent to 859,296 mt, while the revenue from these imports amounted to $332.04 million, up 70.3 percent, both year on year.
In the January-August period, Turkey imported 528,448 metric tons of pig iron from Russia, up 53.2 percent year on year. Russia ranked first among Turkey's pig iron import sources in the period in question, followed by Ukraine which supplied 220,152 mt, up 77.2 percent year on year.
