According to the customs statistics provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in October this year Turkey's pig iron imports amounted to 88,090 metric tons, increasing by 21.6 percent as compared to September this year and up 33.2 percent compared to the same month last year.
In October, Turkey's average pig iron import price stood at $547.8/mt, increasing by two percent or $11/mt compared to the previous month, and up $80.67/mt or 17.27 percent compared to the same month last year.
In the January-October period of the current year, Turkey imported 869,909 mt of pig iron with an average import price of $535.48/mt.
Turkey's top pig iron source in October this year was Ukraine which exported 50,446 mt of pig iron to Turkey, with a decrease of 11.5 percent compared to September this year and up 26.85 compared to October 2010.
