In October this year, Turkey's pig iron imports amounted to 116,534 mt, rising by 286 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The total value of Turkey's pig iron imports in the given month was $30.9 million, up 132.5 percent compared to October 2014.
Meanwhile, in the first ten months of the current year, Turkey's pig iron imports increased by 13.3 percent to 872,377 mt, while the value of these imports decreased by 14.5 percent to $280.7 million, both on year-on-year basis.
In the January-October period this year, Turkey imported 451,873 metric tons of pig iron from Russia, up 54.02 percent year on year. Russia ranked first among Turkey's pig iron import sources in the period in question, followed by Ukraine which supplied 380,159 mt, down 13.3 percent year on year.
