Turkey’s pig iron imports up 113.5 percent in January-May

In May this year, Turkey's pig iron imports amounted to 82,566 mt, up 89.2 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The total value of Turkey's pig iron imports in the given month increased by 103 percent year on year to $33.5 million.

In the first five months of the current year, Turkey's pig iron imports increased by 113.5 percent to 644,343 mt, while the revenue from these imports amounted to $245.2 million, up 143.4 percent, both year on year.

In the January-May period, Turkey imported 418,180 metric tons of pig iron from Russia, up 178.53 percent year on year. Russia ranked first among Turkey's pig iron import sources in the period in question, followed by Ukraine which supplied 154,026 mt, up 58.45 percent year on year.
