Turkey’s pig iron imports down 13.6 percent in January-November

In November last year, Turkey's pig iron imports amounted to 52,951 mt, down 30.9 percent year on year and decreasing by 46.6 percent compared to October, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The total value of Turkey's pig iron imports in the given month decreased by 40.9 percent year on year to $17.78 million, down by 47.1 percent compared to the previous month.

Meanwhile, in the first 11 months of last year, Turkey's pig iron imports amounted to 1.05 million metric tons, down 13.6 percent year on year, while the revenue generated by these imports totaled $379 million, decreasing by 19.9 percent compared to the same period of 2018.

In the first 11 months of last year, Turkey imported 663,794 metric tons of pig iron from Russia, down 7.44 percent year on year. Russia ranked first among Turkey's pig iron import sources in the period in question, followed by Ukraine which supplied 163,751 mt, down 46.37 percent year on year.
