Turkish steelmaker Isdemir, a subsidiary of OYAK Mining Metallurgy Group, has announced that its all-time liquid pig iron production has reached 100 million metric tons. Commenting on the achievement, Toker Ozcan, head of Oyak Mining Metallurgy Group, stated, “This output is a gift from OYAK Mining Metallurgy Group to Turkey for Victory Day on August 30. “

Isdemir stated that it is proud that its liquid pig iron output since its startup in 1970 with an annual capacity of 1.1 million mt up to the 100th anniversary of the start of Turkish War of Independence (May 19, 1919) has reached these levels. The company also aims to reach a total of 100 million mt of cumulative liquid steel production by Republic Day on October 29 this year.

Mr. Ozcan also said, “While İsdemir keeps helping to increase Turkey’s steel production capacity, we also maintain our production by keeping efficiency and capacity utilization rates at highest levels at our mills. This is because we see iron and steel production as a major contributor to industrialization and economic development and as a key driver for sustainable growth.”
