Turkey's iron ore imports up 2.3 percent in January

In January this year, Turkey's iron ore imports totaled 946,313 mt, falling by 7.5 percent compared to December and up 2.3 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the statistics provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports decreased by 13.88 percent month on month to $88.7 million and was up 8.1 compared to January 2018.

In the given period, Turkey's iron ore imports from Brazil stood at 680,683 mt, up 99.50 percent year on year. Brazil was followed by Sweden which supplied 190,023 mt, while Turkey's iron ore imports from Ukraine in the given period amounted to 49,503 mt.
