In April this year, Turkey's iron ore imports totaled 923,009 mt, increasing by 12.9 percent compared to March and up 63.5 percent as compared to the same month of 2019, according to the statistics provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports increased by 124 percent to $92.32 million year on year, up 16.1 percent as compared to March.
Meanwhile, in the January-April period of this year, Turkey's iron ore imports amounted to 2.94 million metric tons, down 12.72 percent year on year, while the revenue generated by these imports totaled $293.2 million, decreasing by 6.03 percent compared to the same period of 2019.
In the given period, Turkey's iron ore imports from Brazil stood at 1.56 million mt, down 19.23 percent year on year. Brazil was followed by Sweden which supplied 810,630 mt, while Turkey's iron ore imports from Russia in the given period amounted to 373,866 mt.
