In February this year Turkey's monthly calendar adjusted industrial production index increased by 18.2 percent year on year, while its seasonal and calendar adjusted industrial production index rose by 1.6 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜIK)
Among the various industrial sectors in Turkey, the calendar adjusted production index in the mining sector in February this year increased by 12.2 percent year on year and was up 2.8 percent month on month, while the index for the manufacturing sector surged by 20.6 percent compared to February 2009 and was up 1.7 percent over January 2010.
In the month in question, the index for the manufacture of basic metals increased by 2.83 percent year on year and was slightly down by 0.1 percent over January, while the index for the manufacture of fabricated metal products rose by 34.97 percent year on year and was up 12.73 percent compared to the previous month.
