On June 3, Turkish steelmaker Izmir Demir Celik Sanayi A.S. (IDC) announced that it has completed the maintenance of its meltshop and has restarted production.

SteelOrbis previously reported that the company had suspended production of its meltshop as from May 16 and decided last week to prolong the suspension of production for one more week. The company also suspended production at its rolling mill beginning from May 9.

The annual production capacity of IDC's meltshop is 1.32 million metric tons, and it is equipped with a seven-strand continuous caster, capable of producing 140 x 140 mm x 12 m steel billets, while its rolling mill can produce 900,000 mt of rebar per year.
