According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in February this year Turkey's cold rolled coil (CRC) and cold rolled sheet (CRS) imports fell 24.1 percent compared to the previous month and were up 35.1 percent year on year, amounting to 49,333 metric tons. The value of these imports amounted to $39.95 million, down 24.6 percent compared to January and up 28.1 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in the first two months of this year, Turkey's cold rolled coil and sheet imports amounted to 114,355 metric tons, increasing 39.9 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2011.
In the January-February period of this year, Turkey's cold rolled coil and sheet imports from Belgium amounted to 34,946 metric tons, increasing more than five times compared to January-February 2011 and accounting for approximately 30.6 percent of the country's total cold rolled coil and sheet imports. Turkey's second biggest source of cold rolled coil and sheet imports in the first two months of the current year was Russia with 31,215 metric tons, increasing by 1.7 percent year on year.
