Turkey’s coking coal imports up 44.5 percent in May

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in May this year Turkey's coking coal imports fell 4.2 percent compared to the previous month and were up 44.5 percent compared to May 2011, totaling 2.14 million metric tons.

In the first five months of 2012, Turkey's coking coal imports totaled 10.98 million metric tons, increasing 17.2 percent compared to January-May 2011. Imports from Russia in the period in question amounted to 3.86 million metric tons, rising by 1.3 percent, while imports from Colombia in the first five months of the current year amounted to 2.8 million mt, up 30.2 percent, both compared to the same period of 2011.
