Turkey’s coking coal imports up 20.4 percent in H1

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in June this year Turkey's coking coal imports rose 3.8 percent compared to the previous month and were up 38.7 percent compared to June 2011, totaling 2.2 million metric tons.

In the first half of 2012, Turkey's coking coal imports totaled 13.2 million metric tons, increasing 20.4 percent compared to January-June 2011. Imports from Russia in the period in question amounted to 4.7 million metric tons, rising by 2.5 percent, while imports from Colombia in the first half of the current year amounted to 3.1 million mt, up 26.1 percent, both compared to the same period of 2011.
