China Coal Energy’s coal sales down 7.2% in Jan-Feb 2026, posts lower net profit for 2025

Major Chinese coal mining company China Coal Energy Co., Ltd has announced that it produced 8.91 million mt of coal in February this year, down 13.0 percent year on year, while it sold 16.51 million mt of coal in the given month, down 5.5 percent year on year. 

In particular, in February, its sales volume of its own coal production amounted to 8.65 million mt, down 10.1 percent year on year.

In the January-February period this year, China Coal Energy produced 19.2 million mt of coal, down 11.6 percent year on year, while it sold 36.56 million mt of coal in the given period, down 7.2 percent year on year.

In particular, in the first two months this year, its sales volume of its own coal production amounted to 19.22 million mt, down 5.3 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, China Coal Energy has registered an operating revenue of RMB 148.057 billion ($15.6 billion) in 2025, down 21.8 percent year on year, while posting a net profit of RMB 17.884 billion ($0.86 billion) for the year, down 7.3 percent year on year. 

The sales price of its own production coal declined by RMB 77/mt ($11.2/mt) in the given year, exerting a negative impact on its operating revenue.
